All Prince William County Public Schools and Offices will be closed Code Red

  • All PWCS buildings are closed
  • All school activities (day and evening) are canceled including field trips, team practices, club meetings, interscholastic contests, and athletic contests
  • Students may use the day optionally to catch-up or voluntarily work on assignments already assigned.

Code Orange



 Note to Students:

  • Students are to attend virtual lessons via Zoom during their slotted class time.
  • Attendance will be taken.
  • Students should visit their teacher’s Canvas pages for more info.
  • Upon our return to school, we will pick-up with the next day in the EVEN/ODD day pattern. For example, if the Code Orange Day was an ODD day, we will return to an EVEN day.

How to Access Zoom

This section contains information for activating Student PWCS Zoom accounts. The instructions will take you through the steps for setting up your account. 

Steps students should take if they have questions about Zoom:

Step 1:  First use the resources on this page to help you activate your own account.

Step 2:  If you are unable to download/use Zoom on a PWCS device, please send a detailed email with a screenshot of the message that you are getting to [email protected]

Step 3:  If you have activated your Zoom account, but are unsure about how to access your teacher's Zoom session (meeting link), please email your teacher for instructions.


Activate your Zoom Account:

  1. Open the Chrome browser and go to  zoom.us. Click "SIGN IN" in the upper-right corner.
  2. Click “Sign in with SSO.”
  3. Type in the company domain: pwcs-zm-edu.
  4. Click Continue
  5. Sign in with  your Office 365 Email (same as Canvas and StudentVUE)
  6. Click Open when prompted to return to Zoom

 How To Access Your Teacher's Zoom Session:
  1. Go to Canvas – canvas.pwcs.edu
  2. Select the appropriate course in the dashboard
  3. Click on the teacher's Zoom Link 
  4. Once located, click on the Zoom link and wait for your teacher.

Schools closed for students and teachers

  • Schools and offices are closed.
  • Virtual classes are canceled.
  • The School Age Child Care (SACC) program will not open.
  • All school activities (day and evening) are canceled including field trips, team practices, club meetings, interscholastic contests, and athletic contests.
  • All non-school activities (day and evening) are canceled including Adult Education, night school classes, and recreational programs scheduled in school buildings.
  • Students may use the day optionally to catch-up or voluntarily work on assignments already assigned.
