CAMPUS POLICY:
To promote safety and security for all of our students and staff, Potomac Senior High School is a closed campus. Students are not allowed to order deliveries to the school and also not allowed to leave school grounds during the school day for lunch or any other reason. Students who are found to have left school grounds during the school day will receive disciplinary consequences and will not have access to afterschool buses.
EARLY DISMISSAL:
Effective, Monday, January 13th, we are updating our early sign-out procedure. If your student needs to leave school early, please come into the building to sign your child out at the front desk. A student will not be released until the parent/guardian or other individual designated on the Emergency Card, has presented a photo ID. Please do not email or submit early dismissal requests through the ParentVue app. We are unable to accommodate early dismissal requests after 1:45 p.m.
If you have any questions, please contact your student's Administrator at 703-441-4200.
PICK-UP/DROP-OFF:
Parents, for the safety of all involved, please remember that all students should be dropped off in the morning and picked up in the afternoon in the underclassman parking lot only. After turning in at the marquee, take the fourth right, into the underclassmen lot. Then take an immediate right to drop off at the sidewalk leading up the steps toward the school. After you drop your student off, drive straight ahead to the top of the hill and make a left turn to exit school grounds. Please yield to the students in the cross walk and do not drop your students off at the cross walk or at any other location. Thank you for helping to increase safety, limit back-ups, and model safe driving for our students.
COLLEGE AND CAREER PLANNING:
The winter months mark the time when college applications come into focus for many Senior students and families. Please see school/county resources below and feel free to contact Potomac’s College and Career Counselor, Ms. Austin ([email protected]) with questions.

ACTIVITY BUSES:
To further promote our commitment to student success, late buses are available at 4pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Sudents may stay after to receive extra assistance with teachers or to meet with school-sponsored clubs/organizations afterschool! Please encourage your student to check their teacher’s availability to utilize Tuesday or Thursday late buses for opportunities to deepen their learning beyond class time.
STUDENTVUE:
This app is where students access bus and class schedules, grades, attendance information. StudentVUE accounts are already created for students. Students (new to the school district) will receive login instructions during their first week of school.
If you are unable to reset your password from home, it may be because your password has expired. When you arrive to school (on the first day of school), you should be able to successfully reset it.
If you are trying to access your schedule, an option would be to have your parent or guardian log into their ParentVUE account.
There are two ways to access StudentVUE:
1. Go to Google Chrome and enter this link: studentvue.pwcs.edu
2. Download the StudentVUE app by searching "StudentVUE" in the Apple iTunes or Google Play stores.
The mobile app will ask for a district address. It is: https://va-pwcps-psv.edupoint.com/
Log in with your [email protected] (your county email address and your password) and click Login.
If you can log into other county applications, but cannot log into StudentVUE, please verify that you are logging in with your whole email address. For example if your username is JamesAF22, you will log into StudentVUE with [email protected].
If you have forgotten your county/network password, go to Password Self Serve to reset it. Please note that you can't reset just your StudentVUE password. You must reset your network password. The new password that you save will become the password that gets you into your school issued laptop, Office365, Canvas, and StudentVUE.
Parents who have activated their ParentVUE account will be able to view the schedule in their app.
Log into the ParentVUE app, Select your student, and Select Class Schedule
Don't worry if you do not have access to ParentVUE or StudentVUE when school starts. On the 1st day of each new school year, 1st-period teacher rosters will be posted on the walls to help you locate your classroom.

BUS UPDATE:
Bus schedules will be available in ParentVUE at the beginning of each school year. At that time, you will also be able to download the Here Comes the Bus mobile app that allows you to track your student’s buses in real-time.
EVOLV:
Potomac HS will continue to use of EVOLV high-tech scanner and detection system at our main doorways to screen students and visitors for weapons. We ask parents to be mindful of reducing metal objects (3-ring binders, eyeglass cases, water bottles, etc.) when purchasing school supplies.
LAPTOP DISTRIBUTION:
Every Potomac student will have the opportunity to check-out a laptop at the beginning of the school year. Students are expected to have their laptop with them each day. Students and parents/guardians will be held responsible for inappropriate use and will be held responsible for any damage.
LAPTOP INSURANCE:
We encourage each family to take advantage of the optional insurance being offered through a partnership with Securranty and Prince William County Public Schools. Families will be responsible for any damage, including accidental damage, that occurs to student laptops this year and this insurance coverage can help provide peace of mind. Visit the Securranty website HERE for more information about this policy. Please purchase the insurance immediately after your student is assigned a laptop.
SOCIAL PROBATION:
At Potomac, we prioritize students positioning themselves for academic success by being present and on time to classes and by making decision inside and outside of the classroom that represent themselves, their families, and our Potomac community the right way. Our Student Handbook now includes the following: Any student who accumulates seven (7) discipline referrals will be placed on “Social Probation”, in addition to receiving the corresponding discipline consequence. Social Probation will prevent a student from attending one or more school functions such as Pep Rallies, Homecoming, and Prom.
