Updated 4/29/22

Advisory period 1 meets the 1st & 3rd Wednesday of each month, beginning October 6, 2021.

Students will report to 1st period and then be released to Advisory via PA announcement or a bell.

Students are not permitted to leave the school building at any time.

Reminder:  When school is in session, bring your School issued laptop with you.

Students returning for in-person school should plan to bring their PWCS-assigned laptop and charger with them to school and take that laptop and charger back home each day. Extra laptops and power cords will not be available in classrooms.

Parents may gently clean the laptop, when necessary, by using an alcohol wipe to disinfectant the keyboard and external surfaces. Do not spray disinfectant spray on the device or apply hand sanitizer directly on the device as it may damage it.

To maintain overall “laptop health”, all students should shut down their device at the end of each day. (Just like a good night's sleep, everything runs better with a fresh start!)

Reminder:  In-person students are expected to bring the following items on the days they are in the building:

1. PWCS Laptop (fully charged)

2. Power cord

3. Headphones/Earbuds

CODE ORANGE SCHEDULE

Square with the words code orange inside

PWCS has added a new code, Code Orange, for days when weather may be marginal such as when road conditions are uncertain, or unsafe, for a limited period. Code Orange may be used in lieu of days that in previous years were delayed openings.

For the 2021-22 school year, students should use Code Orange days for asynchronous learning as an opportunity to complete work assigned and/or to receive support from their teacher during posted office hours that will be between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. with specific teacher office hours and link to be posted on their Canvas page.

Students who need a device to access assignments will be encouraged the day ahead of potential weather to take their computer home.  Below is the schedule that PSHS will follow on Code Orange Days.

Staff will be available via Zoom during their department’s slotted time for office hours to answer individual student questions. Students should visit their teacher’s Canvas pages for more info.

Students should access the classes that were scheduled to meet that day – Even/Odd NOT all 7 classes! Upon our return to school, we will continue with classes as scheduled, in the Even – Odd day pattern.  For example, if the Code Orange Day was an Odd day, we will return to an Odd day.

Zoom Access:

While teachers will be available (via Zoom) during their department's office hours, student login to Zoom is optional.  Students who are new to PWCS  (or who have never accessed our district's Zoom App) will need to activate their Zoom account by logging in at: https://pwcs-zm-edu.zoom.us/ before attempting to use the app.

The attached document provides step-by-step instructions.  Note: Following these steps only activates the student's Zoom account.  To access a teacher's Zoom link on a Code Orange Day, students must log into their Canvas course and use the link provided by the classroom teacher.

If you need technical assistance with your Zoom App, please contact the PWCS Help Desk at 703.791.8826. The Help Desk is open from 7:00am to 4:30pm, Monday-Friday.
