HS Metal Jackets robotics team wins Chairman’s Award at district event

Robotics team Metal Jackets posing after winning Chairman's awardThe Metal Jackets, a 51-member robotics team comprised of students from Osbourn Park, Patriot, and Battlefield High Schools, recently won the Chairman's Award in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) Chesapeake District event in Portsmouth, VA. The Chairman's Award is the highest award in FRC and is given to the team that best demonstrates the mission of FIRST and is the best team role model. This is the Metal Jacket’s first time winning this award in 12 years.

Next up for the Metal Jackets is another Chesapeake District event on March 29-31 in Blacksburg, VA. Then it’s on to the District Championships held at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA on April 10-13. If the team wins District Championships, they will move on to compete in the FIRST World Championships held in Detroit later in April.
