Below is the suggested schedule for school work by periods during the week.  New work/material will be posted starting on April 27th. All 4th quarter work will be optional, however, I will still be putting grades in the gradebook for informational purposes. Algebra I video office hours will be EVERY MONDAY from 12pm-1pm.  They will take place through Microsoft Teams, and can only be accessed with your school e-mail account.  You should have received and e-mail with the scheduled meeting for this week.  Office hours are NOT REQUIRED to attend; they are there if you need/want face to face help with any assignments or have questions.  If this time slot does not work for you on any given Monday, please feel free to contact me via e-mail with your questions, or to schedule a different meeting time. April 24th is the end of the 3rd quarter and the last day to turn in make up work.  The re-testing window for Module 6 and 7 will be open from 7am Monday until 1159pm Thursday, and can only be taken if you have completed and sent me the remediation work.

Hello students and parents, I know many of you have asked about taking a missed test, or re-testing a low grade.  We are currently finalizing the remediation and testing documents.  But there are a few things you need to know/complete BEFORE testing: 1.  Before you can take or retake any test, you will need to complete the remediation for the same Module.  Those documents are posted under the "Distance Learning 2020" tab on my homepage.  Algebra I has a review for Module 6-GCF/Factoring, and Module 7-Solving Quadratics.  Spring Break is still scheduled for next week, so you do not need to worry about having it done immediately (unless you want to).   2.  During the week of April 13-17th: I will be setting up "office hours" on Zoom so that students can log in and have face to face conversations with questions about the review or to go over anything they are still confused on. These will happen about twice that week for hone hour each.  I will send an invite once that is set up that week.  I will always answer questions before office hours via e-mail, but if you feel an actual conversation would be more beneficial, I encourage you to take part in the office hours.  If you need to schedule a different time that what I schedule, we can coordinate something!  You will need to provide evidence that the remediation has been completed before I send you a code for the test.  3.  During the week of April 20-23rd:  I will open up a testing window the website gradecam.com, which is where the tests will be posted and where students can log in, take, and submit the test online. You can re-take the test at some point during those 4 days.  The 3rd quarter does not end until April 24th, so you will have those grades before the end of the quarter.  More information on the testing window will be sent out after Spring Break.  Please notes that IF you take an test online, you will be required to show work on separate paper and then take a photo of the work and send it to me for the re-take grade to count. We will get re-testing in before the end of the quarter.  Just make sure you are reviewing the Modules you want to do again (you can use the Pre-tests that are posted under the Homework section of the website), and complete the Remediation posted under "Distance Learning 2020!" ?? Again, if you need anything, please e-mail me at wellsel@pwcs.edu.

March 25th, 2020 HOMEWORK TAB TO THE LEFT: Under this tab you will find a folder marked "Algebra I" It has all the GPS's, Test Reviews, and Answers to the reviews for all Modules we have covered so far (except Module 8).  You may use these to review all topics we've covered so far.  I also posted an SOL review packet if you want extra practice.   March 24th, 2020  Dear students and parents/guardians, I know that there are a lot of different emotions going on with the announcement that schools are closed for the remainder of the academic school year.  Believe when I say I have been going through a lot of them myself.  I feel for all of you with this closure. To my seniors:  I'm so sorry that this is how it has to end (for now).  I know how hard you have been working and I hope that the county is able to put together some kind of graduation ceremony/way to honor all of you.  You've worked hard this far and deserve it. To my athletes: I'm sorry that your season has been cut short in something that you love participating in. To those of you that participate in extracurricular activities: I'm sorry that no more meetings will be held this year and you don't get to see you club mates, sponsors, and other friends you were excited to gather with. To ALL my students:  I'm sorry that you didn't get a chance to say goodbye to many of your friends you got to see almost everyday.  I know how hard it is not to be able to see people you are so used to seeing day by day. And I will miss seeing and working with all of you at school for the rest of the year.   I know a lot of you are worried/wondering about grades, make-ups and re-testing, and how the rest of the year will be handled.  I assure you that we are working on that and are awaiting on a response from the county about how we will proceed in this matter.  As soon as I know ANYTHING I will let you know how we will continue.  For now, I have my school website updated with a blog for each subject, designed to post announcements/assignments, as well as subpages for documents and links.  You can access it through Potomac's webpage, or using this direct link: https://potomachs.pwcs.edu/class_pages/math/esther_wells I also have all our previous calendars posted from the beginning of the year so you can review the topics we've already covered. As we get more information on how to proceed with distance learning, I will let you know how assignments can be completed/turned in etc.  If you are able to download Zoom, I have an account that we can use to video conference once new material is assigned later if you are in need of help with assignments/topics.  There is NO SOL this year for Algebra I, so we will focus on finishing up the curriculum.  In AFDA, we will also focus on finishing up the AFDA curriculum. Students AND Parents/Guardians:  Please, if you need ANYTHING during this time, I am available thru e-mail at any time.  And if I can't help immediately or don't have the answer, I will get you to someone that can!  Know that we (Mrs. Faust, Ms. Rivera, Mrs. Perelli, and I) are ALL thinking about you and hoping you all are doing well, staying safe and healthy throughout this time.   Please pass this information along to your classmates so the word gets around on how we will proceed throughout the year. Thank you all for the year that we have had so far, and we will continue to do everything we can to help you though the rest of this year!!! Take care! Mrs. Wells, Mrs. Perelli (AFDA), Mrs. Faust (Algebra I), and Ms. Rivera (Algebra I)    Algebra I Update: 3/22/20  Hello Algebra I, If you have not already seen that latest e-mail that I have sent out, you all should continue working on the previously assigned IXL objectives that you started before our break from school.  They are on www.ixl.com/signin/potomacshs.  The link is also posted on the left-hand side of my webpage under "Useful Links."  Objectives to complete are: Level K *U.8 *U.10 *U.11 You only need a score of 80. Also, if you were not in class either on Thursday, March 12th (Period 2) or Friday, March 13th (Periods 1, 3), then please work on the Module 8 Test Review.  It is attached to the last e-mail., or you can find it under the "Homework" section also to the left of my webpage. I hope you all are doing well and staying safe and healthy during this time!  Rest up, continue to stay safe, and I hope to see you all again soon!  Again, please do not hesitate to contact me if you need anything.  email: wellsel@pwcs.edu  I will be checking it regularly throughout the week. ~Mrs. Wells
