Virtual Class for the week of April 27- May 2

This week we will focus on using the Cadet Field Manual (CFM). Everyone was issued one early in school (the big orange book). If you somehow have lost or misplaced it, you can find it in the Naval Science 1 tab on the class webpage. There are a few items that will be due on Friday, May 2, 2020. Please be mindful of every task below that needs done.

1. Read Chapter One out of the CFM starting on pg. FM-5 regarding uniform regulations.
    - Answer questions 1-39 on pgs. FM 36-37

2. Read Chapter Three out of the CFM starting on pg. FM-57 regarding military customs and courtesies.
     - Answer the study questions 1-13 AND the Critical Thinking Questions 1-3

This is tangible information for you as a cadet and needs to become a learned behavior in the NJROTC program. it is also important to know and stay abreast of what you should look like in uniform. Also knowing the measurements of where things go on your uniform. These are questions that can be asked during a uniform inspection.

I have also looked at the Quia assignments from past posts and it seems that quite a few of you DID NOT attempt to complete them. I encourage you to go back in the homework tab and take a look at the stuff that you may have neglected. Keep your mind fresh. Stay active and also make sure you get out and get some PT every now and then.

I expect these items emailed to me by the end of the school day on Friday, May 2, 2020. Any questions reach out to me and ask. Stay safe and healthy!

                                            Virtual Week of May 26-29

I hope your Memorial Day weekend was great and you were able to enjoy the beautiful weather we had. I also hope you were able to take a moment and remember that Memorial Day is not simply a day for us to BBQ and hangout, but a day to remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice to preserve our freedoms we so much enjoy in our great country. This week we will be reviewing Career Planning. I want you to read Unit 1 chapter 2 which starts n page 22. I want you to define the key terms and also answer the four review questions on page 38. I then want you to go to Quia.com and take the NS-1 Career Planning and Leadership Quiz. I will want these done and emailed to me by Saturday morning (May 30th). A few weeks ago I asked you to start thinking about what you would put on your resumé if in fact you had to write one. It is something you will have to do while in HS either your sophomore or junior year. I have asked a company called HSchoolResume.com to provide us with some assistance with this. They were able to give us a discount code to where your resumé will cost $3.99. The coupon code is
POTOMAC_2_OFF.  Again, this coupon will enable students to generate their resume for $3.99 instead of the full price. Also attached is the easy-to-follow guide that walks high school students through how to use the system to generate a resume. This is simply for your benefit and is also voluntary. You are not required to do this. Attached to the email is a "how to" pdf that explains how to input the discount code if you choose to do it. They will walk you through a template you will choose and assist you putting one together. You will then have a finished product you can keep and alter later if need be. Remember, this company strictly helps and specializes in high school resumes. For those who decide to take advantage of it... great! For those who do not, rest assured you will be putting one together before you graduate.  Any questions please feel free to reach out to me. Have a great week!
